Successful Geocaching

*This blog is dedicated to Charles Smith*

North-Eastern side of Mount Victoria.

Finally Mike found the "precious" geocach

Ta-dah!

Mike exploring the geocach.

Lego Rockband Keychain man finally has a new home.

And got comfortable real quick.

This is the tree that the geocach was at the bottom of.

Logged it! There were so many other Canadian's who had found the geocach :)

Hiding it again.

Finally after my third and Mike's first attempt the Travel Bug Wraith's refuge geocach was found!

Taupo - Take 1

Wellington on Saturday 23nd 2010 - Overcast, cloudy, windy...not so pleasant.

Departure time: 8:00am

More Po on the road, because of Labor Day weekend.

Some rich person's Mary.

The town of BULL. Bull is a town where everything is bull: socia-bull, rent-a-bull...etc.

BAH!

Pretty Cliffs

More sheep :P

Ice Cream + Snowy top mountains = Good start to Mini Vacation in Taupo.

Desert Road.

MOUNT DOOM!

Almost there!

So after this shot we ended up going to Kayla's (My roomate, Hannah's friend) brother's motocross competition. It was exciting to see those dirt bikes revving and shredding. After we went to the bike rally we ate some homemade chocolate chip cookies and headed to AC baths, which is a natural spring public pool. It was like having a warm bath in public, but the warmth wasn't just hot pee spots it was constant.

We went on the slide :D

After the AC Baths we arrived in Taupo, checked into our room, had a nap and went out for the night.

Day 2 - Sunday 23th

After a quick sleep in, it was off to the lakefront to grab some Breakfast. Then some shopping and day long relaxing.

Jamal in Lake Taupo.

Look what Jamal found!

Volcanic rock from the distant mountain.

Me in Lake Taupo :D

Black sand!

Ginormous trees here.

Fun in the garden.

Relaxing on the rooftop with some Export Dry. On this day I understood the appreciation for a cold beer on a nice hot day.

inside my beer.

Day 3- Monday

Nice water feature.

Jamal in the nice water feature.

Mike had too many cookies and sun.

Then we took a detour to Egypt.

Epic tree! It's hard to see but there are people standing at the base of this magnificent tree.

We headed down to the Lake, where we met up with Kayla's Family and their boat.

Feeding the birds.

Attracting the birds.

Angry black swans.

Good thing Jack was there to scare them off. Hissing swans are real mood killers.

When we were enjoying our relaxation on the deck the day before, Mike fell asleep and was cooked medium rare...just pink and tender all over.

Jack so cute.

Reflecting on the lake.

It was fun being back on a boat. Zipping around the lake was awesome.

My failed attempt at water-boarding.

Labor day weekend and where do a lot of Kiwi's go to relax, party, and get away from the wind???? TAUPO! Taupo is at the center of the North island of NZ and seems to be one of the most popular getaway places in the North Island. Surrounded by Beautiful mountain/ volcanoes and blue skies it was very easy to just sit and relax all day. Lake Taupo lies in a caldera created by a supervolcanic eruption. Thankfully while we were there were no volcanic eruptions occurred.
