This picture was taken when I was in Franz Josef....pretty.
After such a long day of hiking up and down a glacier it was only obvious but to go to the hot pools. Which were all natural thermal pools, and they were gorgeous.
There were three pools 36 degrees, 38 degrees, and 40 degrees. We worked our way up, but I really enjoyed the 38 degree pool, but when I was in the 40 degree...... it was heavenly. It was also really nice to use the showers in the vicinity because at Lake Mahinpaua and the first morning at Franz Josef the showers were disgusting cold. So a nice three pool dip and a hot shower was a great ending to a day long glacier hike.

We got up early and left Franz Josef at the butt-crack of dawn and before we continued on your journey we ended up at Lake Matheson, where the lake was mirror like and calm.
