Bus Tour - Wellington (Lord of the Rings Tour)

This was the beginning of my half day L.O.T.R movie tour. We are park on Mount Victoria looking out to Evens Bay, Lyall Bay in the distance and the airport.

This is the forest used when the hobbits are fleeing from the ring wraith at night on their way to Bree. This are 130+ year pine trees that have been warped by the wind over a long period of time.

This was our guide and he showed us the scenes from the movie and so we could see where the scenes where filmed.

This scene, where those two guys are sitting together with where Argorn is talking to King Theoden in the second film and they just blue screen everything but the grassy rock edge with the actors.

This is the scene where in the Extended version of fellowship Frodo and same are just on the edge of the Shire and hear wood elves. Frodo is smoking his pipe and Sam is cooking the munchies.

If you can't remember that scene or you never saw the extended version then don't worry cause we re-enacted it, props and all.

"That was a close one.."

We didn't get to re-enact find mushrooms :(

So for this shot please insert Frodo on the path on the right hand side and zoom in a little and i think this is where he says "Get off the road" with his big blue eyes piercing their hearts.

Insert big tree on the right and a big scary ringwraith and boom oscar.

See that ringwraith up there? Movie magic! it's really three people strategically standing up there. Zoom into this shot again (my zoom only went so far) and boom classic L.O.T.R ringwraith shot complete with blue filter :)

Oh look a wee hobbit stocking. (random)

LOOK! another viciously cute plush toy....in Legolas form :0 !

"Can you get me inside the weta workshop?"

This is the oh-so discreet digital production layer. This is where everything digital happens and is finished and printed.

Driving near Lyall Bay.

Weta workshops public art.

This is where the world premier of "Return of the Ring" took place.

What New Zealand trip isn't complete without a Lord of the Rings movie location tour.
